Story Of Comedy Serial:
The serial is based on the happenings of Gokuldham Society and its members. The story mainly revolves around Jethalal Gada and his family. Jethalal is a businessmen and runs an electronic shop nearby. His wife, Daya, is an uneducated, my-family-is-everything kind of women. They have 
a son Tipendra (a.k.a Tappu), who is smart as well as naughty and heads his society’s child brigade. Champaklal Gada, father of Jethalal is an ideal man in his sixty’s, religious and often times scolds Jethalal when he disrespects Daya. Daya’s brother, Sundar, creates problems for Jethalal – which is often times humorous. The Gokuldham society is like an ideal mix of India’s social fabric. In the society, they have Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, South Indian, Bengali, Parsi people living all together in harmony and peace. Taraak Mehta, is a writer by profession and is the narrator of the show. His wife, Anjali Taarak, is a dietitian and feeds his husband only with diet-rich foods such as freshly prepared bitter gourd juice. Whenever Jethalal is in a problem, Taarak Mehta is the go-to man. The Marathi family, Bhide’s comprise of Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, his wife Madhavi, and their daughter Sonu Bhide. Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, is a teacher by profession and is the secretary of the society. Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide has a love-hate relationship with Jethalal. He never leaves a chance to complain about the mischieves of Tappu and his child brigade. The Iyer family consist of Krishnan Iyer and his wife Babita. Krishnan Iyer is a well-known scientist and his wife Babita is from Bengal. While Krishnan Iyer’s complexion is dark, Babita, however, is milky-white. Jethalal often flirts with Babita, but every time his efforts comes to nought because of her husband. So, he (Krishnan Iyer) always looks for a reason to settle-scores and get-back at Jethalal. The Sodhi family, 
the Sodhi’s are a pair of Punjabi husband and Parsi wife. Theirs is a love marriage, Roshan Singh Sodhi, is a garage owner and is a happy-go-lucky person with angriness for those who messes with him. Mrs. Roshan is a housewife with pleasant personlity. They have a son, Gogi, who the youngest to all the children of the society and a member of Tappu Sena (brigade). Jethalal is a good friend of Roshan Singh Sodhi. The Hathi family, Hansraj Hathi, is a doctor who is extremely overweight, but still fond of eating. His wife, Komal Hathi, is a housewife and tries to keep a check on her husband’s and son’s (Goli) eating habit. All the wife’s are good friends and do their grocery and other shopping together. They also regularly organize Kitty Party when they want to discuss or celebrate something. The Gokuldham society celebrates all the festivals together. Whenever there are any mis-happenings, the entire people of the society comes together and tackles the problem.
