Deepak Ghirwale, Vandana Pathak, Atul Parchure, and others to meet R K Laxman in Pune
SAB TV’s R K Laxman Ki Duniya is a unique show which is based on the works and caricatures of renowned illustrator R K Laxman. The show will display in a satirical vein the day-to-day problems in a common man’s life. Now, the cast and crew of R K Laxman Ki Duniya cannot stop smiling these days. Reason: they are all going to Pune to meet the man himself, the legendary R K Laxman.“I have heard that we are going to meet Mr Laxman. It will be an honour for me to meet the living legend,” says Deepak Ghirwale, who essays the role of a common man (of yesteryear) in the show.Atul Parchure – who is the other common man in the show (of modern times) – is also super excited to meet the artist. He opines that in the times when saas-bahu dramas are ruling the roast, the show will help highlight the problems that all common Indians encounter daily. “First of all, when I meet him I will thank him whole-heartedly. Because of him a show like R K Laxman Ki Duniya could happen. Personally, I am indebted to Mr Laxman because of him I got the role of a lifetime,” smiles Atul.R K Laxman is currently unwell and has been advised complete bed rest. So, Vandana Pathak, who wanted the legend to sketch a cartoon for her, will now just tell him to watch the show. “Yes, he is unwell and on bed rest. So, he can’t really talk or move around. I will tell him to watch the episodes and give suggestions,” says Vandana. We know it is nothing short of a dream come true to meet ‘the’ R K Laxman. Well the cast of R K Laxman Ki Duniya can revel in the moment. We can’t help but feel jealous!!! This TV series is based on the books and works of R.K. Laxman. The episodes and incidents would involve happenings in the life of The Common Man as depicted by Laxman over the years. This Series would focus on the character of Common Man who is a silent spectator of marching time. Common Man, confronts India’s latest heartbreak with a kind of wry resignation. Meek and silent , he’s a witness to everything: scheming politicians, gossiping housewives and rapacious bureaucrats. This character has been hugely successful because it represents us – Indians. We can identify the Common Man with all the people we come across during a day — he can be our Doodhwala, Next door neighbor, Traffic Police, Fruit Vendor, Baniya, Office colleague, School Teacher…he can be absolutely anyone. This TV Series aims at depicting our happiness and sorrows and our indifference towards things going around us.
